I came home one day and turned the computer on and it started right up untill the green windows bar that goes back and forth came up like its loading but it never loads even after several hours,I have tried to get to system recovery or restore and cant even get to those. All it says is loading files and then goes to the windows loading screen with the green bar and stays there??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Completely turn off your computer, wait 30 - 60 seconds, then turn it on.

As soon as you turn it on, tap the F8 key once a second without interruption until the menu options screen appears.

Select the "last known good configuration" option and see if it'll load to the desktop.

Here is the support and software site for that HP Pavilion a1720n desktop.

I just tried that and you got me further than i was getting, but it still hung on the windows loading screen? I did it again and went to start safe mode and it showed the drivers loading and you could see them on the screen and then it says please wait... At the bottom. But i have a feeling it is stuck there now. Help! This stuff just drives me crazy. Thanks for your help if you have any other ideas i would be much appreciative.

    Thanks
    Brian

There's not much that I can do without having a "hands on" with that desktop.

Worse case scenario is doing a system recovery and hoping that gets you going again.

Does anyone else have access to that desktop and did something to it without your knowledge?

Just a wild guess .. Unplug the Computer power from the wall.
Press n Hold the Power Switch for about 15 seconds ..
Plug the power back in .. and try to boot again.

Do you have the HP recovery CD/DVDs ???

Read here about doing a system recovery. I gave you the link earlier.

If you can't buy the recovery CD kit from HP/Compaq, you can buy it here.

I provided you with the site for doing a system recovery. Have you gone there and read the information and instructions?
