I have a HP G62 notebook and running Windows 7 home premium. In the last few days, if I walk away from the computer for a few minutes, the screen goes blue (I assume into sleep or hibernate mode) and usually I can just move the mouse or press a key and the icons come back up but now, the keyboard and mouse do not work at that point and I have to do a hard reboot. Also, I noticed that when double clicking icons or webpages, the computer sometimes does not respond at all. Any ideas of what could be happening?
Then, go to the control panel
Set view to "large icons"
Open Power options
Go to the power profile in use
Disable whatever you to sleep or hiberation to disable or never
Go to Advanced power settings
Left click every item's "+" sign.
Disable whatever you to sleep or hiberation to disable or never
Reboot
By any chance is the blue screen accompanied by text?
When did the computer last work well? When did the problem begin? Sometimes the exact date is important.
What changed; a hardware or software installation or removal; an update to W7 [ check your W7 update history ] or update to your anti malware or other antimalware program / programs ]; an update to Java or an Adobe program for example?
I followed your steps and it has fixed my problem. I wish I understood why but I have tested it over and over again today and I can now wake my computer from hibernate mode by pressing a key.
All seemed to be fine until this evening and it is doing it again. The screen goes black after I walk off and I can not wake it with either the mouse or keyboard. I have to do the hard reboot again and the screen comes on and I choose to start windows normally. Should I follow your steps again with the restore point?

I followed what Rainforest123 recommended and it worked fine for most of the day then it went back to the problem. I looked at your link for Vista (I have Windows 7) and it looks close to what I did which is below:
Then, go to the control panel
Set view to "large icons"
Open Power options
Go to the power profile in use
Disable whatever you to sleep or hiberation to disable or never
Go to Advanced power settings
Left click every item's "+" sign.
Disable whatever you to sleep or hiberation to disable or never
I see that I am the only admin and the guest acct. is off so I must have been logged in as admin.
As for your link, I am not sure what to do. Do I disable then enable or ? I was thinking you want the computer to go into a sleep or hibernation mode when not in active use then be able to just bring it up when touching a key.
Does it matter if I do it with the manual instructions or click the little icon to do it automatically?
I see all the programs that the link applies to but I don't see windows 7 home premium edition which is what I have. Maybe that does not matter since it lists Windows 7?
I tried the Fix it and did disable and then enable but same problem exists. Do I only do one of them?
Also, I am not sure what file you mean to right click for admin. I right clicked the admin in user accounts and nothing happend. Can you please tell me step by step to be sure I am logged in as the unhidden admin? I looked online but still could not figure it out.
I set it to about 1 month ago and the screen still goes black but the rest of the notebook is still on but the mouse and keys do not wake it. I tried to run AVG a few times and it freezes in the middle of that too. Does is sound like it could be a virus or something? I have never had on(that I know of) but have read about them and I am very careful of not opening e-mails or going to sites I am not familiar with. I am really at a loss.
