Hello everyone, I have the same problem with the 2 browsers I 'am running on a Windows Vista Home 64 Bit machine (Google Chrome and IE 8). I have been having problems where sometimes when I click a link or type in a web address
Chrome will hang and will say "Resolving Host" in the lower left corner. Then it pops up a page saying "Oops! This link appears broken." Chrome is an allowed program though my Windows Firewall.
The other browser Internet Explorer has the same problem. They both work intermittently! This is driving me crazy Can someone please help me?
FYI - I have McAfee Security Centre, I tried disabling but it doesn't help.
ONE MORE THING i would like to mention, Once I use Hotspot shield (Proxy) Both browsers work fine.
I would really appreciate any help guys. I am running out of ideas.
    Thanks

    Follow the below instructions Carefully:
    1. Download HiJackThis from the link in my signature
    2. Run a Scan.
    3. Save a Logfile(On your Desktop)
    4. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING BY YOURSELF.
(Fixing Anything Might cause Unwanted System Instability,BSOD's and Even Render your System Unusable)
5.Copy and Paste all the contents
    6. Paste them in the reply Window

Are you using x64 windows ?
You use Mcafee as you said.
Uninstall it and try free ones like AVAST OR AVIRA>
    1) avast.com
    2) avira.com
    Try disabling the hotspot shield.
When the browsers do not work ,does the windows live program work perfectly??
Try running a full scan with Malwarebytes Free and SAS Free.
    (Links available from my signature)

Download the x64 version of Firefox and try:
    Firefox x64

    Hello Antech,

I did uninstall Mcafee and since then my browsers seem way better! I still want to use my McAfee since I have a Valid License until 2012. I am not sure if changing its settings will do any better. I might contact their support to see if they have any known issue with browsers.
Thanks for your help antech !

    Yes,there's a compitable version present.
If you have a PC and are using Firefox, Installing Adobe Flash Player goes as follows.
    1. Go into tools and click Add-ons
    2. Disable Adobe Acrobat
    3. Go to the Adobe.com and download Adobe Flash Player
    4. Close Firefox completely
    5. Install Adobe Flash Player normally
    6. Go into Firefox and repeat steps 1 and 2 this time Enable Adobe Acrobat.
Adobe Flash Player should now work.

OR Try installing it in safe mode.

Flash player 9 is not supported on 64 bit windows.
    Try installing Flash Player 10

    Found this daniweb:
    1. Open Computer.

    2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.

    3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.

    4. Open the Flash directory.

    5. Right-click FlashUtil10x where x is some letter.

    6. Select Run as Administrator.

    7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

    8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly
