I go to Crucial to check memory specifications.
There are about 8 models of Lenovo B50 offered.
B50-10
B50-30 (Intel 4th Gen)
B50-30 (Celeron)
B50-35
B50-45
B50-50
B50-70
B50-80
What is the exact model of B50.
Read from the label on the bottom Model #.

We also need the complete model to know a) how many slots b) the maximum size of RAM that each slot accepts.
Just because you want to upgrade to 8GB or 16GB that doesn't mean it is possible with all hardware.

There is more than one model of the Lenovo B50 series laptop, and they all do not support the same amount of RAM, so we need to know which one you have.

According to its global support site, the Lenovo B50 comes in these model numbers:
B50-10
B50-30
B50-45
B50-50
B50-70
but there may be more - as Liz stated.

Found manual for B50-10
Code:
https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b50-10_hmm_en.pdf
DDR3L-1333 MHz / 1600 MHz SODIMM × 1 (max 8 GB)

Found info on B50-50
DDR3L-1333 MHz / 1600 MHz, SODIMM × 1 (max 8 GB)

B50-70 has 2 memory slots with a max of 8GB per slot.
