my mail account has been corrupted

Hi, after doing system restore due to a nasty virus and adding mcafee i now cant get into my husband's mail account. I am the administrator on the pc but my husband was the one that had the virus. Mcafee have said that there is no blockage on their part and its not caused by firewall, they also think it has been corrupted by the virus. Any ideas, my husband uses this account for business. The account is thunderbird. Thanks in advance. Forgot to say that i can get into my account from the same pc, nothing in my account has been affected.

I suspect the virus is the cause also Mcafee could be blocking

would you post a HJT log - see my signature for the program

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

If you receive the message
The requested operation requires elevation.
The please open the command prompt as administrator - as requested above

did you run as administrator or from an administrator account

xp, i ran it in my husband's account, should i have ran it in mine even though its ok.

run the XP version of the TCP reset from an admin account - and if still a problem run the hjt and post here - i will move to the virus forum, may take a few days for an answer though

i followed your instructions but i dont know if i done it right as no results came up at all. I rebooted and tried to get into my mail account but still nothing. Are you now posting this to the virus settings. Sorry for not understanding all this jargin.
