So after bugging my dad for many many months i finally am getting my new gaming rig. I will be buying it from a local computer store as my dad knows the owner well and were gettin a bit of a deal. We can also get it fixed/serviced for cheap. So anyways heres the specs... Partly my ideas partly the computer store.

    - Colours-IT Medium Tower ATX Case & Blue Storm 500 Watt Power Supply (Black)
    - ABIT AMD Athlon 64 Motherboard (3 Year Warranty)
    - AMD Athlon-64, 3200+ Processor
    - 1 Gig (2 x 512 Meg) DDR-400 Memory
    - Panasonic 1.44 Meg Floppy Disk Drive (Black)
    - Seagate 80 Gig, 7200 RPM Hard Disk Drive (5 Year Warranty)
    - ATI All In Wonder 9600, 128 Meg AGP Video Card
    - LG 17" LCD Display
    - Logitech LX-700 Cordless Keyboard & Mouse Combo
    - Integrated Digital Audio
    - LG CDRW / DVD Combo Drive
    - Creative Labs Inspire T5400 Speaker System
    - NO FAX MODEM
    - Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    - Integrated 10/100 Network Interface
    - MGE Power Bar Surge Suppressor
    - MGE UPS
    - AVER Media ULTRA TV 1500MCE

    $2,176.95

The price is canadian, and i can't go up much. Mainly the video crad doesnt look very good and i dont think I really need a 500 watt ps supply. I was goin to be gettin a x300 video card but I have been told they don't currently have a motherboard with pci express and the socket for a amd processor. Any ideas?

Yes, they do now have PCIE for AMD.

According to a conversion, thats around 1800 US. I think you can do much better then that, but i dont know anything bout "UPS" prices. What socket is the processor?

I bought my computer from there for only $1300.(CAN)

    My specs are:
    ASUS p4p800-e deluxe
    420 Thermaltek psu
    3ghz intel p4 with ht
    1024 ram
    ATi AIW 9800pro
    DVD Burner 16x
    200gig, 7200 rpm western digital
    Simple case
    Logitek mouse and keyboard
    Windows xp pro with sp2
    Other stuff, no monitor

So i bet my store is way more cheaper then yours. That cost me $1300 back in october last year, now it should be around $1000.

Your computer itself is actually pretty good, video card could be better but is pretty decent. You will get good gaming and multimedia function(AIW for a reason right?)

Bottom line-Pretty decent computer at a not so decent price.

That's $1700 US....that seems like an awful lot for a computer....

I just threw all of those parts onto a wish list on Newegg, and it came to about $1200 US....so they're charging you $500 US more than what you could get if you just built it yourself...and I wasn't even trying to save money. If you wanted, you could go for a slower processor (2800+ saves you $70, and you can easily overclock it back up to 3200+ speeds), which gives you more money to get a better video card, like a Radeon 9800 or 9800 Pro.

edit: wait...why are you getting the AIW Radeon and a seperate TV tuner card? Doesn't the AIW have a TV tuner on it?

Thats partly what i was thinking. Why would i need two? should't i only need one? I believe the other tv tuner is over 100$ And im not sure if you all notice but thats also got a 17" LG flat panel monitor.

Cheaper would be nicer... but I'm still going to spend that much... So a better computer for the same price would be more helpful

similar but missing a couple things... Im pretty sure im not being ripped off. Ok now can someone figure why i would have 2 tv tuners? Also what would be a better video card for 100$ or so more. What were you sayin about the sockets for the processor? Should i go with the 939? Also do you guys think there much point in the nice keyboard and mouse combo? And finally is there any point in a 500 watt power supply?

not saving much at all here. Your missing mouse/keyboard, OS, monitor, speakers, power bar. Maybe some other stuff. Anyways I will be buying from the computer store. So can someone try to answer my questions?

Why do I have 2 tv tuners? Also what would be a better video card for 100$ or so more. What were you sayin about the sockets for the processor? Should i go with the 939? Also do you guys think there much point in the nice keyboard and mouse combo? And finally is there any point in a 500 watt power supply?

And I have an idea... If i go socket 939 they might have a mobo with pci epress thatll work with it. Ill try to check. So two options would be nice, With and Without PCI express
