For some reason, my sound card shows up as emulated in DxDiag. I've tried a second card from a different company with the same results.

The results of this are that various games have either no sound or messed up sound. Some games are fine... which points to fact that only certain types of sound are affected.

Although I cannot be positive, I think perhaps I've had this problem since upgrading to DirectX 9.0b awhile back. I've tried installed DirectX over itself with no luck and have yet to find a program to remove DirectX 9 so I can try a complete reinstall of itself.... DirectX Buster only works for removing up to DirectX 8.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP1 and I have the latest sound card drivers installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Why would my sound show up as emulated?

    Thanks.
