I just went to Control Panel/System and Security/.../view installed antispyware programs. It says Microsoft Security Essentials is "on" and Windows Defender's entry cycles between "off" and "out of date". What's that mean? What should I do about it? I haven't had any problems that I know of, knock on wood...

On Windows 7, Microsoft Security Essentials disables Windows Defender. MSE already includes an anti-malware module.

Thx. So with respect to Windows Defender, I'm good to go. I appreciate knowing that.

I've also seen your prompt reply to my msg re malware, and I'm going there now to continue that dialogue!

    Thx.

over and out...of this thread, anyway...
