I am running a Dell Pentium 4 with XP OS. All of a sudden (last few days), whenever I go to an internet site, the page seems to be displayed in a slightly wider aspect requiring a slide bar at the bottom of the screen to slide left and right to view the entire screen. This has just started recently (I have two teenagers who like to fiddle with settings). I have tried adjusting through the display window in the control panel with no results. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this sudden widening of internet screen sizes? (slide bar only appears when on an internet site). I have also tried changing text size to smaller and smallest settings--this also did not work. Thanks TJWeeks

    Hi tjweeks

Right click your desktop and selecy properties - settings - in screen area increase the size from 640 x 480 to 800 x 600 if you are using a 15" monitor

Thanks Steam but that did not seem to fix it. By the way (if it makes a difference) I am using a 17in. monitor.--- TJWeeks

Being set too low would cause that very problem - as you have a 17" monitor you would need to set it higher than 800 x 600 have you tried a higher setting ?

I had the same problem and discovered it was because I had all
ads, animations etc removed from computer. When I disabled
Internet Spy Hunter (it does a lot of different jobs) my sliderbar
disappeared. Of course I want it there, so sliderbar re-appeared.
