Hi i bought a old pc, it was perfect apart from the sound not working.

When i link up the speakers and put the lead in the pc it is making crackling noises, but not the actual sound file i want to play

what is going on??

There was a Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device in device manager it had a yellow sign, this was uninstalled apparently by the previous owner

How can i make this work??

Also i have know idea what the make and model is of the sound card, nut the only thing i can see in belarc adviser is BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 1.0K 07/30/2003

Hope someone helps

Cheers

Could be a speaker issue. Have you tried different speakers? Or those speakers on a different computer?

It could be the sound card. Does it show up in device manager correctly?
