I uninstalled Norton Systemworks 2005 from my wife's Compaq (XP Home) and installed NAV 2006. At reboot (and I think after update?) I got the message "NAV2006 does not support the repair feature. Uninstall and Reinstall". I uninstalled and reinstalled, but still got the same message. It ran fine for a day or two, with the message popping up every once in a while, but then things went bad. Now, when the laptop boots up after signing in two messages come up - "windows is installing a program" and then on top of that one the same "NAV 2006 does not support the repair feature". Then everything locks up and I can't do anything else.

I can boot into safe mode, but when I go to add/remove programs it says I can't remove NAV in safe mode.

HELP! How can I get rid of this program?

    Hi, grtatn :)

    Welcome to TSG.

See if you can logon in Safe Mode with Networking to have access to the Internet, then please follow the instructions Here to remove all Norton's software.

Note: This tool will remove all your Norton Programs in your Computer.

To boot into safe mode with Networking:

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode with Networking.

Thanks! That did it. I searched the Symantec site for 15 minutes, trying assorted seraches and couldn't find anything that looked helpful. Thanks so much for this info.

When I tried to run the second program, Symnrt, in safe mode I got the message it couldn't be run in safe mode. So I booted up normally and clicked on it quickly, before the error messages came up. It started to run, but then got hung up. I rebooted and ran it again this time with success. I also ran the the final program, symmsiclean. Everything seems to be back to normal. NAV is FINALLY gone! That's the last Norton program for me!

    Thanks again for your help!
