Is there any way to power a laptop other than through the DC? My toshiba 2800-s201 recently slid off the coffee table and landed on the DC-plug. It did some damage to the DC-in apparatus.

Will this be an expensive repair? Are there any alternate power solutions (aside from using a separate battery charger) like port replicators or docking stations?

I don't think so man. Even my desktop runs on DC current. Granted it is converted from AC but.................

If you are asking if there is a way to rig it up maybe, but I am not the one to ask.

Take it to a computer shop and get an estimate on getting it fixed is all I can say.

The power socket should be repairable, that's what I'd try.
