I am looking for an app that will display a pop-up Window with a reminder to take some medicine at a particular time every Monday through Friday. I am running 64-Bit Windows 8.1 Pro with all updates. Microsoft deprecated that function out of existence in the built-in Task Scheduler.

    I would like the pop-up to ...

    1) Not being dependant on another program, like MS-Outlook, to be running.

    2) Not require having a Microsoft account, like MS-Calendar.

    3) Initially appear on top of any other open applications, but not necessarily take the focus.

    4) Be large enough and positioned to not easily be missed.

    5) Remain being displayed until manually dismissed.

    6) Free would be nice but will consider any low-cost options.

FWIW, I use my smartphone to do exactly that ... remind me to take my different meds at various times every day. Works well for me because my smartphone is with me constantly, where my computer is not.

Well, would you believe this old fart does not own a smartphone and has no desire to own one?

I do use an LG C395 Expression phone that does have an alarm function. I just set it up with a weekday morning alarm and see how that works out.

Still looking for some kind of Windows reminder app.

I just downloaded and installed Free Alarm Clock and gave it a quick test using a time five minutes in the future. It looks like it may meet my needs. The real test comes at 8:45 AM tomorrow.
