Could someone please recommend a program that would solve the following program please.

I have two computers, both networked through my router. I have the main computer and the kids have the networked computer. The problem is that I want to be able to turn of downloading on the other computer but still let them have access to the internet for their homework, chatting etc.

Is their a program that will do this?

    Any help appreciated

In internet explorer you can block the downloads... in Firefox I don't think you can, but you can still have it all logged in firefox if you want to see what there downloading..

happyrck do you have the script that reverses the process in case at a later date belveder himself then needs to download something?

    Hi fleamailman,

The script can do both disable and enable downloads.

It reads the value of the following registry key:
    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3\1803"

If it is set to 0 (i.e. download enabled), it will set it to the value 3 which I assume disables downloads. If it is set to 3, it will set it the the value 0.

If all else fails, one can always go into the registry and modify that particular key to be 0 in order to enable downloads.

So, it looks like if downloads are enabled on the computer the vb script is run (which should have admin priviledges to run), then it will disable the downloads; and if downloads are disabled and the script is run it looks like it will re-enable the downloads.
