    How to remove Norton Antivirus!

I installed the 30 trial months ago and it expired, so I got AVG, but now, at random times Norton opens and tells me my trial expired. It opens when I go to some websites, like PC Pitstop, and sometimes before I make a download, or while im using a program. Any ideas on how to get rid of it. THis should probably be in software but its an A/V.

If you want to get rid of it, can't you simply uninstall it?

Incidentally, the reminder can be disabled somewhere in the options of the program, though.

Take a look at every section there, and remove all check marks for NAV components to start up as Windows starts.

If you've uninstalled the program you may have serious trouble launching it and checking the options, I would think.

But it must be in your startups somewhere.

Go to Start/run, and type Msinfo32, followed by OK.
    Go to Software Environment/Startup Programs.
Click Edit/'Select all', and then 'copy'
Now paste the contents in your post.

And what version of Windows were you running again?

I went to Add/Remove Programs and it was still in there even after I had uninstalled it, so I did it again and now its gone.

    Hmmm...

Well, let's see whether your error stays away now.

    Cheers,

I went to PC Pitstop and it didnt come up, so I guess it worked this time. It comes up on sites that access the hard drive like online FTPs and stuff.

Well, why not post your startups, and let's look at those?
That should tell us something one way or the other.

    And your operating system?

    No NAV there.

    What's Type32 by the way?

You also need to check your Autoexec.bat.

Could you open it in Notepad, and post its contents?

    Sometimes NAV's there.

Type32 is the program for the easy access buttons on my keyboard. I will check my AutoExec, but the program stopped coming up.
