I'm in the market for a new Windows 10 desktop, with Intel i5-8400, 8-12 Gb DDR4 2.7 GHz, 3.5 inch 1 Tb hard drive, DVD- RW. My graphics needs are moderate. This system comes with the Intel 630 UHD integrated graphics card. Would it make sense, or would there be noticeably improved performance, to add a dedicated graphics card (say the Nvidia GeForce gtx 1050)?
The answer on the information you provide is - if you are not wanting to play top level games with first class graphics and good FPS, OR want best quality video for other uses, then you do not need the card.
Thank you for this information and the helpful links Macboatmaster. I'm not a big gamer. Power Point presentations, internet use, and perhaps some games requiring low level graphics would cover my graphics needs. So based on the information you provided, it looks like I would do fine with the UHD 630 card. And if my graphics needs ever increased, that might be the time to add a dedicated graphics card. Thanks very much!
Cheers
