I've had my W/98 copy of wsock32.dll corrupted by a virus. My system restore cd doesnot allow selective restoring of specific modules. How can I get a download of wsock32.dll to insert into my system?

If you cannot find it as sugested due to using a non-windows installation disk, try reinstalling the Dial-Up Networking. Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove Software. On the Setup Tab open Communication and uncheck the Dial-UP-Networking. Reboot and do the same thing this time install DUN. You will need the installtion disk. You may have to go folder by folder to locate the files windows requests.

PS: what company built the computer/system restore disk?

This will restore your Winsock2 registry key, but I don't believe it restores Wsock32.dll, unless I'm completely off the mark.

    Grtz.

Tried the SFC function to find the wsock.dll in my systems.restore cdd but was unsuccessful. My PC and restore disk are a product of e-Machines.

    That won't work.
You really need the Windows CD-ROM.
Or the Windows Installation files on your drive, that is, if you have them in C:\Windows\Options\Cabs.

If not, you can download the file from the site Paul suggested. Unpack it to C:\Windows\System.
You will probably have to do it in Safe Mode.

    Good luck,
