I am creating a piece of software and have decided to implement a forum and chatroom so that users that have the software can meet online and discuss it.

My question is can anyone suggest the following:

  1. A opensource or free chat room I can place on some webspace
  2. A opensource or free forum I can place on some webspace
  3. Some free webspace that will allow me to put these things on them

Ideally I would like to have a chatroom and forum that I can customise the look of, if anyone can help me with any of this I would be very grateful.

You can remove anything that's not needed in joomla through the menus
in the control panel.

It looks like a pretty good deal, with everything set up for you. The only drawback is you get ads (and I don't think much to their site's design :p). You can get free hosting at www.byethost.com, and phpBB is a free forum that you can download. I haven't used any chat room software before, but there a quite a few results in a Google search.

does your host not provide you with a free forum built in? I have 2 free - one is phpbb (can't remember what the other one is). I know there is a java chat out there - monster template uses it.
