    First Name:
    Computer Specifications
    ACER ASPIRE M1610:
Intel Core 2 Duo processor (with up to 800 MHz FSB)
    1GB of DDR2 400/533/667 MHz SDRAM
Integrated Realtek ALC888S high-definition audio with 7.1-channel audio support, S/PDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital Interface) support
    Integrated SIS Mirage 3 graphics
PCI Express x16 graphics card support
Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2

If these are still the computer specs that you have listed, you should do a couple of things before you install a video card.

Windows XP SP2 needs to be upgraded to SP3.

Another 1 GB of RAM needs to be added.

According to the support site for the Acer Aspire M1610 desktop, it comes with a 250W power supply.

The system requirements for the NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS PCI-E 512 MB video card is a power supply of 300W or greater.

I'm using that same video card in a desktop with a 250W power supply, and it works fine.

I'm not a gamer though - which is probably your reason for wanting to install it.

Personally I would invest in buying a nice power supply to help power it all properly. I would think about buying something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171042

It is not the best most amazing quality PSU but at least it can output enough to power the graphics card correctly.
