    Hi,

I have a Desktop PC running on Windows XP SP3 with a cable internet connection that goes directly to an NIC in the PC through an RJ45 cable without any external devices for internet connectivity.

I have a Nokia E72 phone and I am close to buying a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

I wish to use my internet connection on all three devices - the desktop PC through a wire and the phone and tab wirelessly.

How do I go about this and what hardware do I need to make this work?

    Please assist.

wheres the other end of the cable go ?

Who provides the internet connection - what premises are you in, if an apartment - is the internet connection provided by the landlord ?

    post an ipconfig /all

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

    ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
    to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
    Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

Thanks Etaf, however, I guess I didn't clarify that the internet works fine on my PC.

The other end of the cable goes to a hub on the pole. I reckon that's not important.

I can use the internet on my PC, but I would like to use internet on my phone and tab too in addition to using internet on my PC.

    Thanks again.

What does a "hub on the pole" look like? Do you have a length of cable from your computer that runs directly outside to a jack on some kind of stick in the ground? What country are you in? Who is this provider?

To many of us "cable internet connection" means a coax cable that requires the use of a modem and that can also deliver Television.

I'm guessing that you mean an ethernet cable; your ISP runs an ethernet cable directly to customers. But until you make it clear what you have it is going to be difficult for people to help.
