need help editing picture (im new)

    im not good at computer photo editing so i need help. on this picture i was wondering if someone could take away the backround and just have the player standing there like a cutout or with a white backround...thanks

    Here's my try, it still has a "glow" around the edges, though.

    You missed the background under his right hand.
    But like wow that has to be a real hard one to work with because of all the colors in the background.

    Looks like the similar to mine Noyb.....I used Photoshop 7

    Photoshop.
    Zoomed way in ... Erased a file line around the subject ... using a pencil tool ... and keyboard shortcuts
    Zoomed out a little ... using the polygonal lasso .. erased the rest of the crowd .. in chunks ..
    Selected the erased area .. grew the selection by 2 pix .. feathered the selection by 2 pix .. erased again ..
    then added the white layer.
