We reformatted the Compaq Presario CQ70 that runs Windows Vista 32-bit. We don't have the driver disc, and we don't know where to find the driver that allows us to connect wirelessly to our router.
We have formatted and reinstalled the Vista OS, but we don't know how to get the drivers working to enable internet connectivity. We have a Compaq Presario CQ70, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you install Windows? Formatting leaves you with a blank drive.
All drivers will be at hp.com. Have you checked there?
In general, even with new hardware, it is never a good idea to use a "driver disk". They usually contain the very first release of drivers and newer, debugged ones are almost always available by then at the manufacturer's site.
if you go into device manager you will see a lot of devices listed with yellow ! or ? and Other? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ {Device Manager}
Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager
A man after my own heart! I've made a few comments/questions like that myself.
We are assuming, admiralsfan, that you are referring to an integrated wireless adapter. If it is an external card you would get the driver from that card manufacturer's web site.
