need help for booting laptop

    Hi everyone

    ever since i reinstall window xp, now every time when i turn on my laptop the first time i hear the cooling fan run for about 5 second then nothing happen so i have to press the power button for 6 second as mandate shut down, then turn on again, most the time ok to boot up second time but sometime i have to do a few time. everyone know why this happen, please help me to solve this problem thank you. it not happen before only after i reinstall the xp and make some adjust for start up in msconfig for not to start up everything when i boot up, but even those when i put back where it was it still not boot for for the first only the second time. i appreciated for your help guys

    You may need a BIOS upgrade, or a special driver/add-in from the laptop manufacture for XP.

    The reason is XP now performs advanced power management called ACPI. Here's a link to learn more about XP's power management:

    Oh, other option is to disable XP's power management and use the old BIOS method.

    Hi Dan O

    i went to support.micro to down load the update ACPI power management and try reboot twice
    so far its boot right away twice. so it working so far, i appreciated Dan O

    Hi Dan O i am not sure u will read this again but look a like still have the same problem and if u can show me step by step to get rid of this problem. ( i am not to good in computer so i did not know how to how to use old BIOS method. Thanks dan
