So today I'm trading computers with my brother. He's giving me a Hp G72, but i want all of his stuff off of it. I don't have the disk, but i have the product key. Can anyone tell me how to get everything off of it and then put win 7 on it? Thanks in advance :)

did it have windows 7 on it - most pcs have a recovery partition and also a way to make the disks

I would first make the recovery disks and then see if you can initiate the partition and re-install from there

HP only allow you to make one set of DVDs - make sure you have a least 6 available

see here re HP and recovery for windows 7

    i did say
then if the internal partion recovery fails or anything goes wrong during the process , you can start again with the DVDs - otherwise you have nothing to get you out of trouble

The only problem with that is, under "I'd like to take precautions" there is only "File Backup Program" not disc recovery creation.
