Hi All,

I trying to make a "flyer" (the pieces of paper hanging in stores or banks, community centers etc.) for advertising my business. I'm using Microsoft's Word.

Now...how do you make "little' tabs (side ways) with phone #, name, etc.

You have seen them before. "Some thing for sale....blah..blah....blah", then at the bottom of the page, you see phone #'s names, etc. They usually are cut or ripped and the printing is "side ways". Does any one know how to do this ??

Thanks,

Not sure exactly what your on about but ill have a go.

Small Tabs

using Tab should just line up you text uniformly but if you want to do small tabs just use Space. Sometimes you might get an extra large Tab but you cam make this into two smaller Tabs by clicking repeatedly in the middle of the Tab space.

Sideways

Go to View>Toolbars>Drawing.

This should turn on the drawing toolbar.

Click on the Text box button and draw a text box where you want it.

Then type the text you want and highlight it

Then turn on the text box toolbar if it is not already on by going. View>toolbars>Text Box
A new toolbar should appear.

Click on the last button on the right of that toolbar. This should make the text go sideways.
press it again the text will turn another 90* .

Hope ive helped. If you want more help repeate the questin but make it more clear what you want

Just tested this in Word 2003 ...

1) Insert a table at the end of the document that is 12 columns by 1 row in size and set to autofit to window.

2) Enter the phone number in the first column. It might not hurt to include a few words about what the number is for as well for when the person finds it stuck in their pocket later on

3) Select the newly entered text and then go tot he Format menu and select "Text Direction ...". Pick a rotated orientation.

4) Change the cell border options as desired to show the cutting lines.

* A table of 12 columns will give you 1/2 inch wide strips with the default page margins on letter size paper. Adjust margins and the number of columns to make wider or narrower strips.

I did not test this but you could probably also insert the table into the footer and adjust the footer size and bottom margins as needed. This would keep the tear off tabs at the bottom no matter how you changed the amount of text in the flyer itself.
