theres a 10/100 Ethernet network card for 6-10£ at maplin, should i get it? i cannot connect to the router with my current computer, if the computer (its a mini computer) is more than 20 metres away, this is due to an aged and awful network card (its made by intel!!)

what network card do i need to upgrade to? remember i have a mini computer, not a laptop. i expect a PCI-e network card should fit right in, but i still havent opened up the motherboard to see if this is the case

    thanks for the help

ive just opened it and it has no pci-e slot.. its like a laptop i guess, but in a tiny computer form

so my question is now what do i do? since i cannot change the network card inside, can i purchase an external network card of some sort? the internal network card is awful and will not let me connect if i move the computer upstairs, for example.

That may not be a problem with the network card.........you might not be able to get wireless all over the house, depending on the walls, floors, etc.

yes good point, but i am positive it's the network card in this case, i have a sony vaio laptop and the connection in the same room (upstairs) is excellent, it can download at around 300-500 kbs where as the computer has a tiny connection, due to the terrible network card

is there any way i can purchase an external network card?
