My ps3 recently wasn't able to boot and I tried everything to get it running again but was unsuccessful. so I had to restore the ps3 back to factory condition now it's working fine. I wasn't able to back up any saved game progress on any of the games before I did this though and would like it back if that is possible. now I know that when you delete something the residue of the program is still there until overwritten. So I took the hard drive out of the ps3 and plugged it into my computer and ran avg rescue cd since it has a data recovery tool on it and other similar tools. one is called photorec and the other is testdisk. My only problem is I don't know how to use these programs to recover the data. I realize that it is likely that I won't be able to recover it but I want to try since I haven't written anything to the hard drive since I restored it. If there are other better tools for the job I will try anything at this point. I also think there may be a problem with the hard disk. Thank you for any help anyone can provide.

Well I can't recover the information anymore, not sure what caused it but now the hard drive isn't functioning properly. I stuck it back in the ps3 and had it reformatted but it keeps getting stuck ant 99 percent.
