    Hi :)
I've been very lucky and won myself a new Samsung Plasma TV but am having a tough time trying to connect everything to it and am hoping someone here might be able to help me.
These are the things I have:

    Samsung PS42D4SKX/XSA Plasma Display Panel
Teac DV-B800 High Defintition Digital Terrestrial Receiver
    Panasonic NV-HD620MK2A Video Cassette Recorder
Teac PL-D1620M DVD Home Theater System

I have managed to get the video and the digital receiver connected but no matter what I try I can't get the DVD connected properly. :(
I can hear a DVD's sound but see NO picture, I can also get radio through the DVD and I can sort of get surround sound for a TV program BUT even at max volume it's not very loud

When I try connecting everything to different things on the back of the TV, I lose the video and still get no DVD picture :(

I could get a technician but I really prefer to do this kinda stuff myself
    Can anyone help me out?

I doubt you'll get much surround for a TV program.. Most are stereo at best..

Everything should run through your surround sound system...
Then from the system to the TV..

On the back of the receiver, there should be places for all your stuff..
    VCR, DVD, Tape... ect.
If you want surround sound from your DVD player you will need to use the "Coax" or "optical" inputs.. (some only have one or the other, and some have both..)
It depends on the DVD player.. Does it have "Coax" or "Optical" out?..

Is it a DVD combo? bundled with the receiver?

What are you using for video out/in?

You may also need to select a channel or a "source" for you to see a DVD.
My ONKYO, will auto switch the sound but I need to select the "source" to see the picture.

The instructions will help allot with your hook up.. (y)

    Thanks for the replies :)

After plugging and un-plugging, for about 4 hours, I've finally managed to get video, digital and the dvd playing!
I think my main problem was actually the antenna connection at the wall, which had become loose

I still can't manage to get sorround sound for the TV or Video though.

When I had it all set up for my last TV, I somehow managed to get surround sound for everything.
Stupid me didn't take notes of how I had it all set up though.

    Super-D-38,
I've looked at the back of the DVD Player (which is built in with the surround sound)
at the moment I have an RCA 3 plug (2xaudio, 1xvideo) going from Video Out to the TV S-Video / AV.
I haven't connected anything else to the DVD though, and there is a few different connections there:
    1) video in with L & R jacks
    2) component video with Y, Pb/Cb and Pr/Cr

Would connecting the digital reveiver to the DVD/Surround Sound allow me to watch TV with surround sound??

    ..........Which I'll try now

I'm not sure of what you mean

Since it's a combo you don't need that...

The best you can get with TV will be "Prologic II".. Not true surround but seems close..
Yes your digital "Box" should go through the reciver..

My set up: Digital cable, Play Station 2, Sony DVD player.. All of those run through my receiver..
The audio out of my VCR runs to the receiver too, But all video runs from the reciever to my VCR, and that converts it from the "RCA" plug, into the "coax cable", for the TV...

It's an older TV, doesn't have the other type of plugs.

Thanks for the help Super-D-38 :)

I tried to run the digital box to the DVD/Surround sound, with no success (it only has 2 sets of leads, 1 with video/L&R jacks and 1 with Y,Pb & Pr. I have these ALL connected to the TV) I had problems getting it normally through the TV, I'd prefer to have the option of not having the surround on a ALL the time.
I tried the video, it's now connected to the TV and the DVD.
    That works well :)

Thanks again, you have now made my TV viewing an awesome experience!!!!

.. your digital box should also have the video/R&L out... So, from the box out. to the receiver in.. and it should work.

I use my surround all the time.. it's just way better than the TV..
Honestly with out being able to see it, I just can't explain it good enough.
I'm not a good teacher, but I can figure things out if I can see them.

You just start at one point and connect until all are in..
Since you don't want to use the system all the time, your set up will be different from mine..

BTW the component (Y,Pb,Pr) stuff.. That is usually for DVD players and the like..
Unless they are an out... then it would be for a TV with those inputs..

    Just some FYI..

I'd just start with the receiver to the TV.. once that works, plug in the other stuff.

Good luck with it. And some times you need to match your stuff with what you have..
Like My PS2 has optical out.. So I had to find a receiver that had optical in..
    So just try things..

If all else fails read the manual. :D

    Hi again Super-D-38
Yes..The digital box does have video L&R out, I have the L&R (red & white) connected directly to the TV. Along with the Y, Pb/Cb and Pr/Cr.
If I take the video L&R out I don't get volume normally.

I'm pretty happy with the way it is at the moment except.........

When watching channel 1, which the video is programmed into, the picture on 2 channels is really fuzzy. (I also have the video connected to the DVD to get surround sound, there the picture is better)
I checked the antenna connections and and the problem seems to be with the antenna in on the video
If I pull it out and just have it resting on the connection point the picture becomes perfect

I have the antenna leads going from the wall to the digital box, then to the video, and then to the TV.
    Does that sound right??

I know this may make me sound like the blonde female I am, but I will say it anyway.

When I got newer tv with surround sound, (only had about 20 female plugs ends on the back of the thing) it took several tries to get everything working right. vcr, ps, dish, antennae, sound. As I tried different combinations I used masking tape on each wire, and made note of what had not worked or what worked fairly well. Then when I had something I knew worked well, I used the hospital kind of adhesive tape and wrote with permanent marker (The hospital tape lasts longer than masking tape) and wrapped it around wires indicating where both ends went. If I move the system, I can unhook it and know that in no time at all I can rehook every cable where it works best.

When for Christmas we got a dvd player, it was a walk in the park to add that into the already existing system.
