I have an Outengda HW6100 dual-band outdoor AP
The instructions are lacking, they tell you need to configure the the Internet Protocal Version 4 in the wifi to access the web menu.
1st line is the IP address ok fine I can use anything lets say 192.168.188.100
2nd line subnet mask ok 255.255.255.0
Now I'm stumped these two lines will pull up the menu but it doesn't know where to find my internet.
My router address is 192.168.0.1 the online menu cant change any of this its has to be done with the IPV4
The other lines are Default gateway, DNS server or Alt server
Tried them all and still nothing.
stumped

have you changed your wifi ip address to static ?
IPv4 192.168.188.100
Subnet 255.255.255.0
You have one cable plugged into your modem/router >Power adapter Lan port
One cable plugged into Power adapter POE port >AP Wan Port

After you logged in to 192.168.188.253
Did you go to AP mode
Get ip from AC

Yes configured it to AP mode
Static ip no have not tried that
I tried both get IP from gateway and AC not sure which one is best and does tis determine where my static ip is?. I could set that up should that be done in the AP or my modem?.
The AP looks a little complicated to do so.
I had it working for a while before so its not a hardware problem
thanks for the help

I can access the AP fine so just my computer that connects to it has to be static?. There is a spot in the AP program for static IP. I can try what you say make my computer static 1st. I'm using wifi do i need Ethernet and you set up static via router or computer?.

Sorry I'm new to this

To clarify things. The IP address that is being referred to in the AP's admin GUI is for the AP ONLY. This is to allow you to connect to it so you can configure the AP. The IP address has nothing to do with providing Internet services for any connected wireless devices. Any connected wireless device will have its network traffic dropped onto the wired Ethernet cable. So you have to ensure your edge router has connectivity to the AP.

The IP address of the AP has to be on the same network (subnet) as what you have your router configured. If you've left the AP's IP as 192.168.168.100 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then there's no way the AP will be able to communicate with anything on the network your router is operating on which I'm assuming is 192.168.0.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

Why are you messing with the IP address of your router? You should have left the IP address alone at 192.168.0.1.

The IP address of the AP should be an address anywhere from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254. Assuming the subnet mask is set at 255.255.255.0 on the router. Pick a host address that is not within the DHCP scope configured on your router. The reason this is important is because you don't want the router to issue a DHCP IP address that conflicts with the AP's statically assigned IP address.

AP= Access Point (ip address 192.168.188.253)
LT= Laptop
MR= Modem Router (ip address 192.168.0.1)

Log into your MR and see if you can find a page that list all devices and what ip address they have.
Are any devices using 192.168.0.2? - See attached

Next look for a page with DHCP - Settings See attached
If the start address is greater then 192.168.0.2 leave it
If not change it to DHCP Start Address 192.168.0.3
Save
I set a static Ip in my router
DHCP Static Assignment 192.168.0.50 with a mac address of the "AP" 44:d1:fa:a8:71:56
Remove this setting
Save.

LT If Windows 10
Right click on start button
Left click on Network connections
Left click on Etrhernet
Left click on Change Adapter options
Right click on Wireless connection
Left Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Left click on Properties
Left click on Use the following IP address
Change settings to
IPAddress 192.168.188.100
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Left Click ok
Left Click on Close
Exit Network settings

You should now be able to connect to the SSID of the AP - See attached
Click on the SSID and put in the password(starts with 6)
Open A web browser and Type in the Address bar 192.168.188.253 Press Enter.

AP
Log into the AP and run the Wizzard.
This time DO NOT choose AC.
Choose Static
This is now guess work as I have not seen the settings

I assume it will let you put in an ip address
IP Address 192.168.0.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1
Save and exit

LT If Windows 10
Right click onstart button
Left click on Network connections
Left click on Etrhernet
Left click on Change Adapter options
Right click on Wireless connection
Left Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Left click on Properties
Left click on Obtain IP address automatically
Left Click ok
Left Click on Close
Exit Network settings

If possible take the laptop outside and reboot LT
You should now be able to see the AP SSID
Click on the SSID and join the AP wifi network
Do you have internet?

**NB the attached are pics similar of things you should be able to see**

I get
IP Mode Get IP From AC
Lan IP 192.168.188.253
Subnet 255.255.255.0
AC Address 192.168.188.1
MAC Address 44:D1:FA:A8:71:56

I even turned on DHCP this time in the wizard
Everything I try wont work
I tried a static IP DHCP on my router all that does is locks me out of the Web UI
I can connect but no internet

Seems like the only way I can even get the web UI
id using
192.168.188.200
255.255.255.0
nothing else works

I'm lost in space here

Ok. You're trying to set up a DHCP reservation for the AP to use 192.168.0.50. This will only work if you set the IP address type on the AP to DHCP. Instead of that, I prefer to set a static IP on the AP manually. I would do 192.168.0.2 as the static IP address for the AP. Then on your router, change the DHCP scope/range so that it begins at .3 if it's set to start at .2. I don't know what your DHCP range is. If the range doesn't include .2, then you can leave it alone.

Once you get the ip from AC how do you test the internet.
Do you put your computer back to DHCP and then connect to the AP?
Or are you testing with another computer,Laptop, Tablet, Phone.
What is your testing method.

The AP is by default AC and i do run wizard anyway.
I'm using a laptop via wifi not sure what you mean by computer DHCP. I manually enter the ip via wifi to the AP tried it both ways manually and and auto config. The DHCP I tried to change was the one on the AP just turned it on. I have tried to set a static Ip on the router its a reserved DHCP address on the router that didn't work. I think I need to set a static IP on the AP not sure how to do that. My internet address is 192.168.0.1 my guess it needs to know that someplace.
I had to climb the roof and reset the router a number of times as it locks you out when you fail. Its reset again now
My knowledge on these things is limited so I do appreciate the help maybe walk me through it.

I still don't know what AC means and the manual is just horrible. I'm telling you, the best way to set this up is to set the AP's IP address to a static IP. For the LAN setting, set it to "Static IP". Per my previous post, set the IP of the AP as follows:

IP address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1

On your router, change the DHCP scope so it does not include the .2 address. You're ensuring the router doesn't hand out that address to any DHCP client looking for an IP address.

That's it. You're making this way harder than it needs to be.

#24 ·
After some thinking about the three different methods of setting the IP address of the AP, I think I know what AC means. I think this is setting the AP to get its IP address over wireless. The setting of gateway means getting the IP address over the wired connection. And static is self explanatory.

#25 · (Edited)
I agree we try the ip 192.168.0.2
I will give you step by step instructions on how I think this should be done.
I will write out the steps in the morning
As an aside you should NEVER set it up on the roof before testing that it all works (Leson learnt the hard way.)

#29 · (Edited)
When you get the new router it could have the range of 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1
Let us know what you get.
The first thing to do before you allow all the devices to connect is to set the dhcp range
Thanks for the help Im still using the old router till i get the new one it drops the internet randomly like 5 times a day defective. So I dont want to continue till i get the new one.
Questions though
The Dhcp range ok i will look for that.
Also I have a hell of a time even getting the AP UI to come up it doesn't like anything i try then I'm back on the roof resting it. I do remember that I had a conversation with the maufacturer once they said it will only work under static ip. Looking like mid week for the modem.

I have been playing with the old router just to see how this works
I followed your instructions
DHCP starts at 192.168.0.10 on my router
on the AP using static setting I got this the Screenshot bellow
Using your settings
IP address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
next next then does its majic and locks me out
I cant log in to the UI or the internet I run windows diagnostic it says invalid IP
There is a button elsewhere that says something about turning on DHCP server
I have a NAS Network attached storage with a static IP 192.168.0.14 thats higher then the Start DHCP it works fine should this be the same
Only way back in is to reset the modem

Once you set the ip address of the ap 192.168.0.2
Do you then set your LT back to Obtain IP address.
With the AP on 192.168.0.2
Click on start type in cmd press enter
at the cmd window type or paste ping 192.168.0.2 Press enter
What do you get.
Also on LT

Either type or copy and paste what is in Blue. What is in Red is what you do e.g Enter (Press the Enter key)

ipconfig /all >"%userprofile%\desktop\ipconfig.txt" Enter

This should put a text file on your desktop. Please attach the file in your reply.

the reason you cannot access(ping) the ap is because the LT is not getting a valid ip address
WHY ? We need to look at this after (could be why internet is playing up)
For now we will force an ip address

LT If Windows 10
Right click on start button
Left click on Network connections
Left click on Etrhernet
Left click on Change Adapter options
Right click on Wireless connection
Left Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Left click on Properties
Left click on Use the following IP address
Change settings to
IPAddress 192.168.0.100
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1
Left Click ok
Left Click on Close
Exit Network settings

Open cmd prompt Ping 192.168.0.2 Enter
This time we hope you get a reply.

Does this laptop have a lan network port - where you can plug in a network cable?
By the look of the Ipreport it does not have one.
