Hi Guys Im New Here :)
Used to have a old pc compaq AMD Sempron Processor 3000+ 1.8 Ghz and I ran alot of stuff but never had a problem until it started to make noise at night so I build a custom pc for first time with a custom box and this pc got AMD Athlon 1500+ Processor 1.30GHz ram 1GB the problem is its laggy and when I boot up can't see the screen until it comes to the login page. Any Help Please.

I'm running windows xp professional service pack 3, windows 7 doesn't work with this motherboard.

Hiya alisean.

There are a lot of things to do after the system has been installed to get the machine running smoothly.

Just to run through a few basics ...

Make sure BIOS is set up properly and is showing the correct CPU & RAM speed.
Disable the parallel and serial ports unless you`re going to be using them.
If you have one, make sure the floppy drive is being seen properly, if you don`t, disable it.
Install the mobo drivers making sure you get the correct drivers for your board model.
Install the GPU, Audio, LAN and USB drivers and again, ensure they`re relevant to your board model.
Install background programs such as Abode Flash, Shockwave and Reader, Quicktime, Java, Winzip (or WinRAR) and don`t forget an all important anti-virus.

There are a lot of speed tweaks you can do to an established system but a clean install of XP should be fine and not give you any problems before you start to clutter it up with junk.

Hiya alisean.

The very fact that you`re using a 1500+ CPU isn`t going to help and why didn`t you transfer the old 3000+ CPU to the new machine ... that`d help the speed issue a lot, if you`ve still got it to hand, try that. If not, you can pick up Socket A chips fairly cheap nowadays and certainly look at changing it in the near future if you want to play games or you`re doing anything more than checking your mail !

Setting BIOS correctly and knowing what all the options do is something you pick up with time and experience of messing about with computers and it`s all too easy to mess things up with one wrong keyboard stroke. That said, you can check it`s obviously showing you the correct things like time and date, what size the hard drive is and make sure it`s set to Primary Master, the CPU value which you know, the RAM size and speed (it`ll only run at 166/333) and if you`re not sure whether to change something, make a note of what it is before you alter it in case you have to go back to it.

Unless you know what you`re doing, if you have the option of setting it to `Auto`, take it and remember that you can always reset BIOS if it doesn`t boot by shorting out pins 1 & 2 on JP2 for a minute then returning the jumper to 2 & 3.

Go through each BIOS page and look at the setting it`s at and, if you`re not sure, leave it alone until you know what it does. You`ve obviously got accesss to another machine in which case if you`re vaguely interested, `Google` the setting and read what it supposed to do then you can make an informed choice but in most cases, you won`t go wrong if you choose the default option.

The graphics driver is up to date and although that wouldn`t necessarily have given you any speed problems (as long as the power cable is in place), it`s worth making sure you have the lastest one out.

The link you posted for the mobo was in a foreign language so I`ve put a link to the English version (below) and it might be worth downloading the pdf manual so you know what you`re using.

Thanks for The Link Will Give It a Try But I Went Back to My Old PC problem I have with custom and this one is internet keeps working for like 30min to 4hrs then its stops working I tried with router same thing then I removed the router and tried direct also the same thing.

it can be cable modem box not working right but I did call them they said its working good.
can it be my system is missing a file?

Hiya alisean.

It could very well be a virus or malware of some sort and running a scan would be a good idea anyway. I had a similar problem a few months ago and after a lot of swearing and fiddling with software, I eventually found it was the £2 DSL filter between the phone line and the computer !
