What is defined as cheap ;)

But... with older AGP tech for a P4 board, I would recommend a 7600gs type of board.

    Like a high-mid range for AGP : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...gory=-1&description=7600+agp&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

But almost any $50+ card will be 3-8 times faster than your old card...
And I would recommend a fanless card.

    A good speed bump:

For old AGP tech... don't spend a lot of money. $50~60.

I would go for a Nvidia 6600, your motherboard is 4x AGP so theres no point getting anything higher.

If you have 1GB of RAM... more really won't help. If you have 512mb, add 512mb for $20 or so.

The 6600s are harder to come by... hence I recommended the ATI 1050/1600 series... they're about the same.

Don't forget to check power requirements as stated in your duplicate post.

    AGP 4x/8x card for a late-model AGp mobo - naa... shouldn't be a problem.

    One more thing Compiler.
I most likely will be getting the Radeon 160 you suggested here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102085 but it requries a 350W power supply and my old computer is running on a mere 160W. so i was wondering if any powersupply fit into any computer. and if you had any suggestions..... i have a gateway ykt 500x. Thanks SO much for all this help.

Since its a standard size desktop care, a regular ATX powersupply should fit. I could not locate any interior shots to see what is there.

Go to CompUSA, FRys or other local PC store and buy a $50~70 Antec 350~400watt PSU - so if it doesn't fit, you can take it back.
