So I was just playing my game when all of a sudden my PS3 shuts off on me. I tried to turn it back on several times and even let it cool down and wait a couple days before trying again, but when i turn it on, the green light turns on and the the blue light but as soon as the blue one turns on, the console shuts its self off. Is there something that i can do by myself to fix it or do I need professional help?

From the sounds of it, I'm thinking you need to contact Sony.

Unplug everything from the PS3 for 10 minutes and then rebooted. The point is to make sure you unplug the power cord from the back of the PS3. Even when powered down, you will still have power going in which won't allow it to fully reset. You can also try holding your finger on the power button after you turn it on. Make sure you keep your finger on until the PS3 turns off. (It will beep 3 times) Doing this also resets the system. These two tricks usually worked to reset the older PS3.
