Ok, I just got a new laptop, it is a Toshiba. My last computer was ruined because I was flooded with spyware and pop ups and hijacking. Does anyone know what the best FREE programs are to install that will prevent all of this? I want to make sure before I download them that they themselves will be free of spyware and ads. I would like some programs that block spyware, adware, IE hijacking, everything so I can keep this new computer safe and working. Does anyone have any suggestions?

http://forums.techguy.org/t110854.html Follow this link to Rollin Rogfs Security Tools.

Ad-Aware SE , Spy Bot Search and Destroy , Spyware Blaster as well as AVG anti virus program are all free and do not have any spyware/malware . Download and install according to the tutorials for each program at the site . Use AVG daily and the others at least weekly after updating .

You might also consider Mozilla Firefox for a browser and Mozilla Thunderbird for an E mail program . They are more secure than IE and OE .
