I bought a dell laptop with AMD TURION processor and vista previously installed, but I want to install XP which I'm unable to do so. When I insert the boot CD the option to install is disabled.

I kindly request to help me with this.

You will need to find out which key to press at startup
    to enter the BIOS setup.
Then change the first boot device to the CDrom drive.
Boot to the windows CD and press a key when prompted to boot the CD.
You can't run the install from a running windows vista.

What exactly are you referring to when you say the boot CD?

You are using an actual XP CD, correct?
