Need instructions on Avi to Divx

Could someone tell me how to convert an Avi file to an Divx file. For some reason I cant find any instructions on it. I need to know which program to use and the instructions if someone has the time =) Thanks for all your help =)

That guide is too confusing. I try to do what it tells me but it doesnt have a matching kBit/s or Hz of the avi file that I have. Is there any other guides that you could refer me to?

But a .avi to divX. The file has all ready been compressed so www.virtual.com using a divX codec XDiv to redo it throught VitualDub.
