hi, i built a pc a few years ago as a project, which went well until the eventual pc blue screen of death visited.

now, i need to replace the motherboard, and im not sure what kind to get, nor do i know how to figure out what is the best compatible board for my system.

below is the original config. i'd really like to try to reuse the video card and the RAM. i run winXP Pro. this is not my primary computer (im both mac & pc) but i have no patience for slow processing, so i need to balance performance with price.

any motherboard suggestions? any upgrade suggestions?

i thought about that Rich, that was at the beginning of the Athlon 64 period.

should i be upgrading the processor since im upgrading the motherboard? theyve come a long way since i purchased in 2004.

and my system used to run very hot (and noisy); i had 5 fans cooling it. itd be nice if i could calm it down!

I would though if you do that then ram must also follow. Can I show you a marvelous well priced option here I have been building and you would see a major speed jump with great cooling too!
