I am looking for help developing a program that can automatically extract/parse data from a PDF. Specifically, data from a rate sheet distributed in PDF format from wholesale lenders. Anybody have any experience in this???? I attached sample rate sheets

    Thanks

I don't understand what you mean by extracting the data from a PDF. Could you please explain this more?

I'm not a programmer, but I'll probably be able to help you find a program to fit your needs.

There is specifc data like Rates for 30 year Full Doc. How difficult is it to read. extract, parse data from a PDF... So it we can merge the data into XML format?

    heres what my programmer said.
you can probably decifier who he is and who i am..
sorry... but do you have any idea how many hours it would take to do that?
are you thinking about doing it?
    nope
have no idea where to begin
oh. well it depends on the complexity of the spreadsheets, and what language you want to use, and what format it has to output them to
but i told him no and he said ok can you ask what he thinks it would cost so i sai ill ask time wise and you can decide what you want for hourly and figure it out that way.
he wants it to be windows compatible
    how old is this guy?

yeah umm you'd have to look up adobe's PDF libraries. that program would probably cost a lot of money, especially since it can't be resold. it would have to be on commission for his company, and they would have to go to a software contractor
so do you have any idea?
    idea of what?
    cost
oh, no idea. i would have to look into HOW you would do it, as far as reading PDFs
    ok. dont do that
i would assume it would be prohibitively expensive if they aren't a very big company
ill tell him that you are too busy with other projects
im thinking 25 employees at max for his company
hm, i would say good luck finding somebody who is a) good enough to actually make a quality program and b) willing to take a small, one-time, custom job like this
    thanks
    sure

Are you sure that they do not offer the same data in different formats?
It would be worth asking them.

The full blown version of acrobat has OCR built into it. You can have it converted over to another format and work from there. Adobe Acrobat 8.1 also allows you to save as a word document now. You would just need some script to find information in a certain place and then put it into a database.
