Hey I'm new here so I hope someone can help. I use XP professional on a Dell PC and I was doing some work and it froze so I tried to reboot. The computer came on fine but XP wouldn't load I keep getting an error saying Windows can't be started because a file is missing or corrupted. It then listed a few like "config system". Is there any way to fix this? What about my files, internet files are they gone forever? Do I need a new OS? Thanks for any and all advice, I'm kinda a novice when it comes to these things

It would be helpful if you could give us the exact make and model of the problem PC, just in case we need the information later.

Do you have the Windows XP Pro CD or did you purchase the computer with the operating system pre-installed?

If you do not have the Windows XP Pro CD, do you have a System Recovery CD?
