I'm finding that the 10-meter range of my bluetooth headset is too restrictive, and too unreliable.
I've attempted to find an 802.11 [Wi-Fi] headset ... but to no avail!

Does anyone know if I can get the job done, over Wi-Fi, by combo-ing up a USB headset with [? some manufacturer's] USB-to-WiFi adapter ... and thus get a reliable headset out to Wi-Fi range??

Nope, Wi-Fi is only used in wireless networking hardware. You cannot use Wi-Fi as you would use bluetooth. Try looking for a RF headset, that would be your best bet.

Yes ... well understood that Wi-Fi is only used in wireless networking.
However, you can put install a USB-connected printer via Wi-Fi using a USB-to-WiFi adapter. Does anyone know if such a Wi-Fi device can also be successfully used in combination with a USB headset (and thus make a Wi-Fi headset)???

What you're thinking of is not wi-fi but RF I believe. Your best chance is looking for an RF headset.
