net password

    what does this mean im using xp home im not having any problems but just wondering what i does if i create a new .net password as when you go into user accounts it gives you the option to set up an accont to use a net password

    The .net password setup is for using a microsoft passport which allows you to use passport services (i.e. hotmail). It isnt necessary to set this up though. I believe all it does is tell you if you have new mail in your hotmail account (thats all it does for me anyway, and even then, it doesnt update right lol). And if you dont set it up now, you can set it up at www.msn.com, or www.hotmail.com so dont worry about it.

    Well actually, i may have mispoke...setting up the .net username/password in xp LINKS windows to your currently existing passport account (not actually creating the passport account). Thats why it tells you if you have mail on the logon screen etc. Sorry...wasnt thinkin right there. :eek:
