I have two pc's one running w2k server and the other xp pro.

Today I did a net send to XP and it did not go. It has in the past.
There is no firewall on it. I pinged XP and it said not reachable.

I am seeing xp in my network places and can copy over files to w2k from there. xp can ping and net send to w2k. If I net send and/or ping the ip of xp (which is a private ip address, my public is on the router) it will ping, tracert and it says net send was successful, but the message does not pop up?

    any ideas?

    Check your "services."
The 'Messenger' service must be running in order to receive broadcast messages.
