I have a compaq mini 110 netbook with xp pro on it. It was behaving very poorly, so I decided to re-install. I took out the hard drive and connected to another machine and formatted the disk, I then put it back in and tried to install xp using an external cd drive and it blue screen crashes saying the hard drive is corrupted, check the terminations etc... I've taken it out and connected it to other machines and it's fine, there's nothing wrong with the hard drive. I ran a diagnostics on the netbook and it fails at the hard drive self test, no surprise.

What could be wrong? when I formatted did I wipe away some hdd controller or something, I formatted as NTFS, how can I re-install xp?
