I was given a Dell Dimension 5100 with Win XP SP2 from my sister, hoping I could get help in getting it to have internet connectivity again but when I checked the computer, no drivers are found for the Ethernet Controller, PCI Device, PCI Modem, SM Bus Controller, Video Controller and Video Controller (VGA Compatible). Dell's website was really no help to me as I cannot find specifics as to which drivers I actually need. I hope someone can help me out! Thanks!

According to service tag number 5QZY881 that you have listed, here is the support site that's specific only to your Dell Dimension 5100 desktop.

According to the "Drivers And downloads" section, that desktop supposedly has these devices:

Sigmatel STAC 92XX C-Major High Definition Audio

    Intel 537E V.9X 56K Modem

    Intel PRO/100 VE Ethernet

    Intel 82945G Graphics

    Intel 945G Chipset

In order to confirm that so we can get you the needed Windows XP drivers, you need to do the following:

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager.

Double-click each entry that has a ? or ! next to it. That will open its properties window.

Click the "Details" tab, then highlight "Hardware Id".

There will be a string that has VEN_####&DEV_#### as part of the string.

Advise what the numbers and letters are that follow VEN_ and DEV_

Be careful not to make any typos.

Here are the devices that are associated with the vendor and device codes in your computer:

    Ethernet Controller VEN_8086&DEV_27DC&SUBSYS_01AB1028&REV_01\4&5855BE9&0&40F0

    Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection

    PCI Device VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS_01AB1028&REV_01\3&172E68DD&0&D8

    Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
    Microsoft UAA Bus HD Audio
    Intel IDT Audio

    PCI Modem VEN_8086&DEV_1080&SUBSYS_10001028&REV_04\4&5855BE9&0&18F0

    Intel FA82537EP V.92 56K Modem

    Bus Controller VEN_8086&DEV_27DA&SUBSYS_01AB1028&REV_01\3&172E68DD&0&FB

    Intel[R] 82801G (ICH7 Family) C- 27DA

    Video Controller VEN_1002&DEV_5B70&SUBSYS_06031002&REV_00\4&1603E009&0&0108

    ATI RADEON X300/X550/X1050 Series

    Video Controller (VGA Compatible) VEN_1002&DEV_5B60&SUBSYS_06021002&REV_00\4&1603E009&0&008

    ATI RADEON X300/X550/X1050 Series

    -------------------------------------------------

Here is the most current Intel chipset drivers(9.1.1.1025) for that desktop.
Download and save the infinst911autol.exe file.

Here is the most current Intel ethernet driver(8.0.47.0) for that desktop
Download and save the PROWin32.exe file.

After they've been downloaded and saved in a computer with a working internet connection, burn them off to a CD-R or copy them to a USB thumb drive.

Use that external media to install the drivers in the non-working Dell.

Make sure to install the Intel chipset drivers first and then restart the computer before installing the Intel ethernet driver.

Once you have a working connection in that Dell, it'll be much easier to obtain the other drivers.

I'm assuming that you've already downloaded and installed the Intel chipset drivers and Intel ethernet driver.

Here is the download link for the ATI video driver.

Here is the download link for the Intel 56K modem driver.

Here is the download link for the Sigmatel audio driver.

If the audio driver doesn't install and work, go to the Windows Update/Microsoft Update site and do a custom scan. After the scan is finished and the list is displayed, see if the audio driver is listed in the hardware section.
