Ive got an office with two networked computers. One is XP the other is Vista. The connection was working fine thursday but on friday I had lost my connection and I cant get it to work. Both computers can access the internet and ping each other by I.P. but not name. The only change from thursday to friday is that the Vista machine downloaded and installed about 7 automatic updates early friday morning. Is it possible this could be the problem ? And if so, how do I uninstall the updates ?

Thanks in advance.

Lets see this for each machine.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following two commands:

nbtstat -n

ipconfig /all

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Thank you for your reply. I've been working on it all morning and finally figured out that it was the Norton firewall that was blocking it for some reason. Problem is fixed.
