    Hey
    is there a way to message a computer on ur network without installing na software?

    ps both comps are windows 98

    There used to be an application in Win95 called winchat. If you have the CD you can still use it on Win98 and dial up other PC's by IP address. I believe you can also do this with NetMeeting on a LAN as well.

    start > run > winpopup.

    This will also allow you to send messages to computers with Windows 2000 or XP on them.
