I am running two computers one a laptop the other a desktop. The desktop has Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2. The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. I am find i dont have the correct permission on the laptop to access the desktop. Is there a simple way to rectify this.

Cheers.

Depends on what's wrong. :)

Since "access" doesn't mean the same thing to everybody how about describing what you are trying to do and what happens (including exact error messages if any).
