network ports

    there are two ethernet ports on the backside of my pc. Why are there 2?

    Because you have two ethernet adapters? Look in Device Manager under "Network Adapters."

    Or because you didn't look closely and one is actually a phone port for the dial-up fax/modem? :)

    no, there is a phone modem port and two ethernet ports

    Many new machines come with dual NIC's, my latest MB has two. I have disabled one, since I don't need two. :)

    Even seen older machines with two on-board network cards.
