I have an iMac with OS 10.2.8, a hub and an XP machine. I can't seem to get them to talk to each other. Thx for the help.

;) I have the same setup
Here's the basic directions to follow:

on the Mac, set up a user account (with limited
rights would be wise) and enable windows user logon.

on the PC, r-click any folders or drives you want to share
and choose the sharing rights you want to give.

FROM THE PC
start
search
search for files and folders
search for computers on the network
enter the IP address of the Mac and search
double click the computer icon in the results
enter the account name and password

FROM THE MAC
finder
go
connect to server
you can click on a workgroup in the left pane
and select the pc name in the right pane
or
if you know the IP address you can enter it as
smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
connect
enter pc user name and pw
any shared folders will show
trash to disconnect
