Networking Issue

    Acess denied

    this is the error that i get.

    I have created small office network by connecting cross cable from one laptop to another.

    stll the error comes

    I can ping but not access the file that i have shared.

    please help.

    i have given IPs as follows
    computer (laptop
    192 .168 . 1. 3
    255. 255. 255. 0
    192 .168 .1. 1

    Desktop
    192 .168 . 1. 9
    255. 255. 255. 0
    192 .168 .1. 1

    peferred DNS & Alternate DNS is left blank.
    also installed KB91440 to automatically trouble shoot if any.
    both computers is identified as MSHOME workgroup and is visible in both network places.

    Please Help... where am I going wrong.

    Have you enabled file and printer sharing? Configured any non-Windows firewalls for the desired access?

    Can you ping by Computer Name, or only by IP address?

    The either computer pings each other... but no access to files
