I am having networking problems between my desktop and two laptop computers. All 3 computers are in the home network running windows 7 pro, and you can see all of them on each of the other computers. Now, when I try to access any of them from my desktop or from any of the laptops to the desktop, I get the error: "Windows cannot access \\Desktop-PC".
Also on my desktop, I can not create a Home Group or join a Home Group. I have tried to create on on one of the laptops, then join on my desktop, but that will not work.
    Any ideas???

    Thanks,
    dabeartn

I did that and even set the time using the Internet synchronization and I got the same result:
"Windows cannot create a home group on this computer."

Mr. Fixit couldn't fix it either. I went though the complete page and I still can not create a home group or access folders on my other laptop and I set the permisions to do so.

I can not believe this, I printed off the instructions annt through it step by step and I still get the error: "Windows cannot create a home group on this computer." I am about at the end of my rope, as the network is still not working either.

I don't know if this will work or not. Can I remove the old network name and create a new network, then see if that works??? How would I go about doing this???

What do you mean by "network name"? I first think of the SSID of a wireless network. But people have also used that term for Workgroup and Homegroup, and the Network and Sharing Center often shows meaningless names that seem to be "network names."

What do you mean by "new network"?

Never mind about my reply for new network. This is really getting weird, as I can access the computer upstairs using XP, but none of the computers using Widows 7!!!! What is going on here???

Also all computers have access to the internet, so that rules something out, I think.

A little more information on this problem. If I am on my laptop, I can see both the desktop, the printer and the computer upstairs. If I am on my desktop I can see the computer upstairs, the printer and my laptop. Both my laptop and desktop can access the computer upstairs using XP, but the laptop and the desktop can not access each others files. I can pint off my desktop and computer upstairs, but the laptop will not print, even though it shows the printer.

Now, would this be a Sharing Issue??? If so, how to fix it????

    Thanks,
    Dabeartn.......frustrated and out of ideas

I haven't been paying close attention because my Homegroup experience is near zero. But it sounds like at least part of these issues may be firewall related.

For each of your systems what firewall or security suite do, or did you ever, have on the system?
